Multiple Teams · RHS Varsity Cheer Has Great Showing at Auburn Team Camp

The 2017 RHS Varsity Cheer Squad competed at team camp at Auburn University in early June.  The ladies showed out and brought home many team and individual accolades.  Coach Stephanie Mayfield is extremely proud of the hard work these wonderful ladies put in and of how well the represented Russellville High School and Golden Tiger athletics!

  • Individual Awards:
    • Captain Ellie Kerby was awarded the title of UCA All-American for her efforts during camp.  She also won the Pin It Forward Award and was invited to join the UCA staff.  The Pin It Forward award is given to a cheerleader who demonstrates leadership and qualities that embody the spirit of cheerleading.  It is first awarded by the UCA staff and then passed on from the pinned cheerleader to another cheerleader who demonstrates the same qualities.
    • Co-Captain Madison Hargett was also invited to join the UCA staff.
    • Sarah Grace Kimbrough was awarded the Pin It Forward Award.
  • Team Awards:
    • The squad was awarded the title of Superior Squad–the highest honor awarded to an individual squad.
    • The squad was also awarded squad credentials from UCA.
    • The ladies brought home three Superior Gold Ribbons in all three areas of competition–Cheer, Extreme Routine, and Sideline Performance.  This is also the highest award available in each of these competitions.
    • Each day of camp, the squad was awarded Leadership Spirit Sticks.  These are awarded to squads each night for exhibiting leadership excellence throughout the day.  For squads to earn these, they have to give 100% effort the entire day.  For our girls to win it each day at the camp is a rare thing, and they had to work extremely hard to get them.
    • In competition, the ladies claimed first place in the Extreme Routine Championship, second place in both GameDay and Cheer Championships, and third place in the Sideline Cheer Championship.
