Austin Ashley’s touchdown with less than a minute left broke the 0-0 tie in Monday night’s JV football game with the Haleyville Lions, giving the Golden Tigers a 6-0 lead. The run hit behind the big blocks of Johnathan Vargas, Dakota Andres, and Jacob Daniel. Matthew Williams came up just short on the ensuing two point conversion attempt.
The Lions had one final possession to try and win the game, but the pressure from the defense proved to be too much. Anthony Ruiz and Angel Moreno caused the Haleyville quarterback to fumble, and Jaxon Hallmark scooped it up and ran it in for a touchdown as time expired.
Donald Ramson had a big night for the Golden Tiger defense, recording two big interceptions.
The 12-0 victory improved the JV’s final record to 3-3. This group has continued to improve and will be a big part of the future of Golden Tiger football. Congrats on a good season!
