The Golden Tiger freshmen boys basketball team picked up its first win on Tuesday night, defeating the Brooks Lions 43-28 on the road.
After a close 8-7 deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Golden Tigers (1-1) outscored the Lions 12-8 in the second quarter to take a 19-16 edge into the lockerroom at halftime. During the second quarter, guard Luke Barnwell buried two huge threes to help gain the lead. RHS would outscore the home team 24-12 in the second half to pull off the final 15 point victory.
Barnwell led all scorers with sixteen points, including three three point baskets. Forward Nick Smith added twelve on the evening. Forward Caden Watts, guard Jackson Lindsey, and forward Ian Miller all added four points each.
The freshmen team will return to action on Friday, December 1, at Winfield. Tip for the ninth grade is slated for 4pm. They will be followed by the JV boys, the varsity girls, and the varsity boys.
