The Golden Tigers boys basketball team (1-2) fought through foul trouble and a slow start but fell short against the home-standing Haleyville Lions 65-59. The home team jumped out to a 20-9 first quarter advantage. That lead was extended to 42-26 at halftime and 55-35 at the end of the third quarter. The Golden Tigers did outscore Haleyville 24-10 in the fourth quarter, trimming the lead all the way down to six; however, the deficit was too much to over come.
Junior guard Lucas McNutt led the Golden Tigers with fifteen points. Senior forward Logan Jones added thirteen and played significant minutes on the defense end of the court. Senior guard Houston Kitterman and junior forward Caden Parker both chipped in eight each, while senior forward Calen Bragwell added six.
The Golden Tigers return to action on Friday, December 1, at Winfield. The action will begin with the freshmen boys at 4:00pm. They will be followed by the JV boys, varsity girls, and varsity boys.
