Football Spring Game Cancelled Due to Baseball Championship Appearance

The varsity football spring jamboree versus Sheffield has been cancelled due to the baseball team’s run to the Class 5A State Championship.  The Golden Tigers will compete in an intersquad scrimmage on Wednesday to conclude Coach John Ritter’s first spring in Russellville.

Football Parent Meeting

A parent/Booster Club meeting for the 2018 Golden Tigers football team has been set for Tuesday, April 24, at 6:00pm, at the RHS Cafeteria.  All student-athletes who will be in grades 9-12 next school year and are interested in playing football must have a parent or guardian in attendance.    

Ritter Officially Named Head Football Coach

John Ritter was approved as the head football coach at Russellville High School this morning at the RCS Board of Education meeting.  Coach Ritter comes to RHS from West Morgan High School.  Prior to West Morgan, Ritter served as head coach at Red Bay.  He also had assistant coaching stints at Deshler and Muscle Shoals.

RCS is excited to host a Meet and Greet with new Head Football Coach John Ritter tomorrow from 6:30-7:30pm at the Golden Tiger Baseball Complex during and between the varsity baseball games against Bob Jones. Stidham Positioning for Starting Job at Troy

Former Golden Tiger OT Austin Stidham has worked himself into the playing rotation at Troy for the 2018 season.  He starts the spring listed as the starter at right tackle. Russellville Football Holds Banquet to Honor 2017 Team

Head Coach Mark Heaton and the Golden Tiger football coaching staff honored the members of the 2017 Russellville football team Tuesday night at the A.W. Todd Center. Football Banquet Set for January 23

The 2017-18 Russellville Football Banquet will be held at the A.W. Todd Center on Tuesday, January 23, 2017, at 6:00pm. Players and cheerleaders will have free admission to the banquet.  All others attending will have to purchase a $10.00 ticket.  See Coach Heaton starting Monday, January 8, to purchase tickets.

Football Releases 2018 Schedule

The Alabama High School Athletic Association released region alignments for 2018-2020 last week.  The Golden Tigers remained in Class 5A but will move to Region 7.  This means that we will have a whole new slate of regional opponents.  The Golden Tigers also added Haleyville and Central-Florence to go along with Deshler in the non-region

Football Season Ends with 23-16 Defeat to Colbert County

To get into the playoffs, the Golden Tigers had to defeat visiting Colbert County, and Lawrence County had to lose to West Point.  Neither of those worked out as Lawrence County defeated the Warriors 28-20 and the visiting Indians outlasted the Golden Tigers in a hard fought 23-16 showdown. Golden Tigers Rout Ardmore 44-6 on Homecoming
