2016 Golden Tiger Football Team and Cheer Squad Honored at Banquet

Four Golden Tigers Named to 2016 ASWA Class 5A All State Team

The success of the Russellville Golden Tigers football team did not go unnoticed by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.  Four members of the 2016 team were named to the Class 5A All State Team by the ASWA. Senior left tackle Austin Stidham was named to the first team offensive line for the second consecutive year.

Fan Player of the Week for Guntersville

Kyle Tidwell was voted Fan Player of the Week for his performance in the first round game vs. Guntersville.  Tidwell had 7 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery in the 35-28 victory. Golden Tigers Advance with 35-28 Victory over Guntersville

The Russellville Golden Tigers (8-3, 6-1) advanced to the second round of the AHSAA Class 5A playoffs with a 35-28 victory over the visiting Guntersville Wildcats. Fan Player of the Week (Ardmore)

The fans have spoken! Junior WR/KR Logan Jones is the Player of the Week for the Ardmore game.  Jones scored on a run from 46 yards out in the second quarter and returned the opening kickoff of the second half 60 yards for a touchdown. The Golden Tigers will wrap up the regular season tomorrow

Golden Tigers Finish Region Play with 40-17 Victory at Ardmore

Russellville (7-2, 6-1) wrapped up region play with a 40-17 victory of host Ardmore.  The win gave the Golden Tigers a final 6-1 record in Class 5A Region 8 play. Junior linebacker Landon Ezzell was voted Fan Player of the Week for the East Limestone game.  Ezzell received 71% of the nearly 100 votes after his eighteen tackle performance against the visiting Indians. The Russellville Golden Tigers (6-2, 5-1) will host their first round playoff game after taking care of visiting region foe East Limestone 35-14 on Friday night.
